West Rocks!
Hmmm – it’s Thursday already and I swear it was just Monday and we were all flying home from Stitches West. Some of us had better luck with that than others – I made it in only a 1/2 hour late, the gals were pretty much on time around midnight. Steve & Pete – well, they had to get brand new flights on a completely different airline and Steve rolled in around 3am, but at least he was home. We heard one of our associates spent 23 hours in the Philly airport and finally just gave up. Let’s hope this was winter’s swan song. We’ve all been beaten into submission and are yelling “uncle” at the top of our lungs. Please Mr. Winter – it’s time for you to take a vacation or at least go bug another hemisphere!
Okay – enough about the weather. Let’s talk yarn! Stitches West was a blast as always! It’s the largest of all of the Stitches shows and my personal favorite. The facility is great and I love getting to see our west coast friends.
I have two short video clips to share with you. The first is from Friday morning – a quick tour of the booth and a check on the knitters/crocheters waiting to come into the show. I hope this gives you all some perspective of Stitches:
Next up is the morning after. A shot of the booth on Saturday morning AFTER the insanity of Friday:
It was a great weekend. Thanks to everyone who came by to visit and even if you didn’t shop with us – thanks for making it to the show.
If you were at West – let me know in the comments! What did you think, what did you buy? If not – are you coming to South? I’d also love to hear what you are working on! Any chicken knitters out there??

Yes, I was there (Sunday – I have a crowds aversion!). The WEBS booth is a favorite with me and my friends as you’re guaranteed to find something you love and can easily justify. Your booth was my only yarn purchase – some lovely Rowan. Other than that I stocked up on tools; it was a great show and better than last year I thought.

I visit your booth multiple times while at Stitches West (this is my 3rd year). I didn’t purchase as much this year since I’m on a bit tighter budget, but I did pick up somef Colrain Lace, the Hanging Garden Cardigan, some Alpaca Silk and Malabrigo sock.
As usual the booth was crazy busy, but overall the staff was very helpful. Cirilias absence was definitely felt and although I’m happy she’s at Berroco, I truly missed her. Thanks for having the prices and yarn information clearly identified and also a big thanks for your speedy work at the cash register. Even though the lines are long, they’re quick. Other companies could learn a thing or two from you!

Kristie, that is so sweet!! I miss it too! Yeah, sure, I landed my dream job, how could I complain? Well, everyone who visits the Stitches booth or the store knows that the Webs crew is a really, really fun group. And so are the customers, especially at West (I, like Kathy, have a special fondness for that show).

I already posted something like this on the Ravelry WEBS group, but I first got 5 skeins of Berroco Mica. But when I heard the podcast Friday night and learned you’d be getting S. Charles Tigris later, I returned it and exchanged it for some Malabrigo Sock (very cool) and Berroco Metallic Sox. I then came home and in a few days I ordered the Tigris online. My friend Wendi bought the Ironstone Fun – she couldn’t believe she could get a whole bag for less than $40. Your Berroco rep was super-friendly, too. Having those Norah Gaughan samples just makes me want to put them on my Ravelry queue!

You are missed at the shows – that’s for sure! Now that you’ve been spoiled by a TNNA somehow I think it would be pretty tough to get you to work another Stitches!

Andra is the best! She knows her stuff and knows what looks good people and isn’t afraid to tell you (but she does it so nicely).
Glad you got the Tigris – I’m really liking that yarn, but then again, anything with a little glitz is a hit with me.

Will we be seeing you at Fleece Market?

Overheard at Stitches: OH MY GOSH, I CAN’T BELIEVE IT!! I always listen to the podcast and I looked up and couldn’t believe it – THERE THEY WERE IN PERSON – STEVE and KATHY!! I totally recognized their voices…. I AM SO EXCITED!!…
Stitches West was a blast, I was at your booth 3 times. Can’t wait until next year.

Thanks so much for sharing that! I’m sort of glad I didn’t hear it – I think I would’ve gotten a bit flustered 🙂 Although we *know* people listen, when we’re recording it’s just the three of us and our producer so it seems as if it’s just a black hole. It’s all very humbling to be honest. We have a blast doing the show. Thanks for visiting at WEST – it’s such a great show in so many ways. See you next year!

I was at West and just love it. The teachers are great, the vendors are amazing and I had such a terrific time. I was in classes all 4 days. I bought lots of great yarn, from WEBS I got Malabrigo Sock, Berocco Metallic and Kauni. Kids in a candy store! It’s great and you and Steve come out west after you travel so much all year. It’s a treat.

You already know that I was there, Kathy, since we spoke a couple of times. Sorry I didn’t get to say goodbye. I tried. You were swamped! 🙂 Like Kristie said, though your line was usually long, it went quick. I waited a lot longer in much shorter lines at other booths. You guys rock.

Stitches West was a BLAST! 🙂 My friend and I came around the booth to pet the Valley Yarns in person. I didn’t end up buying any this time, but we took some notes. I did get NGV3 and enough yarn to knit Eastlake after seeing the sample in person, though. 😀 I always knew I wanted to knit it, but there’s just something about seeing it in person, y’know? 🙂 We also managed to get another friend to get some MadTosh Worsted, and I wish I would’ve gotten some too, but I’d spent more than enough at that point. lol I can’t wait until next year! 😀
