I have my own loft space and have my yarn in a zip lock bag for each color, then sorted by weight, and then in wire basket units sold as closet organizers. On top of the basket frames, I have those 24 in wide pre-finished shelves from a home improvement store. It makes nice long work tables for sewing on one side of the "L" and knitting and other crafts on the other. My yarn is also already organized but would never fit in a closet. LOL. I have it in one closet, and it's contained, but I am sure there is some tidying up I could do. Some of it is just stuffed and thrown in with other things.
