Brooklyn Tweed & Amy Singer

We have some serious Knitterati heading to WEBS over the next couple of months and I am beyond excited!

First up is Jared Flood, a.k.a. Brooklyn Tweed.  So.Excited!  This will be his first visit to WEBS.  Most of you know him from his amazing blog and designs.  In the next few weeks we will all have the pleasure of seeing his talent taken to the next level.  His first pattern book will be launched by Classic Elite Yarns and let me tell you – the designs are exquisite!  Jared will be doing an event at WEBS on Thursday evening, August 20th from 6-7:30.  He’ll be presenting his designs, discussing his inspiration and signing his pattern books.  On Friday, he’ll be teaching two classes.  The first is his Seamless Sweater Workshop from 10-1 and then from 2-5 he’ll be offering A Taste of Lace – Brooklyn Style.  We expect both to be sell-outs so register early!  The Thursday evening event is free and will have the usual knosh and such.  The Friday classes are $75 each.

Then, as I lament the end of summer I’ve opted to distract all of us with the FIRST EVER appearance of Amy Singer – founder of of Knitty.com.  I feel like there’s so much to say about this momentous event yet at the same time, I find myself somewhat speechless (stop laughing – all of you – I know “me” and “speechless” don’t necessarily belong in the same sentence).  On Thursday evening, 9/24 she will present her “No Sheep For You” lecture.  Trust me when I say this is bound to be a great night.  Food – Yes.  Bevvies – Yes.  Uke (courtesy of Amy) – Yes.  This again is a free event.  On Friday, 9/25 she’ll be teaching her Plug N’ Play shawl class from 10-1.  Unlike most of our classes this includes a very special and PRIVATE luncheon with Amy.  We’ll be catering in gourmet sandwiches, salads, desserts and such and I picture Friday afternoon morphing into one big Knitty-a-thon post lunch.  I’m not above ordering in some pizza pies Friday evening so plan accordingly!

Yes – I am VERY excited about both of these events.  I am thrilled to have Jared and Amy coming to the shop – I hope all of you are too!  Remember – you need to register for the Thursday night events – wouldn’t want to run short of food!  The Friday class with Amy includes lunch and the luncheon is ONLY for class attendees.  Once the luncheon is done, I know the afternoon will turn into one big knitting/knitty/uke-fest so even if you can’t make the class – plan to come around 2:30ish and join the gang!  Registration is required for both of Jared’s classes as well.  I hope to see many of you at both of these very special events!

Questions?  You know where to find us 🙂
