Calm Crochet

Hi Everyone

Today I have a lovely crochet creation to share with you. I can hear the crocheters rejoicing now and if you are a knitter and not a crocheter I encourage you to just take a few minutes to peruse the project.

Karen our Store Manager brought this cowl into my office today:

It was crocheted by Mary who keeps me sane takes care of all of our marketing and is a fabulous knitter & crocheter. The pattern is the Calm Cowl by Suzana Davidovic and its a free download on Ravelry.

Mary used 2 skeins of Malabrigo Silky Merino, making this a relatively affordable project as well. She said it moved along pretty quickly and the stitch pattern was easy to follow.

While I was in the store I noticed this:

I love this – all cuddled up while someone he knows is shopping in the store.

For those of you who follow me on Twitter, you know that last week J2 had a sledding accident and broke the 2nd & 3rd metatarsals in his right foot. I was disappointed that I had to cancel my plans to head to Stitches West, but being a Mom is my first and most important responsibility so as we waited for the radiologist to read the x-rays, I reassured J2 I wasn’t going anywhere. That first night and next day were a little rough but kids are resilient and he’s well on the road to healing.

Thank you to everyone who expressed sympathy and good wishes last week. It meant a lot to both of us, but especially J2. I also have to thank the WEBS team, particular Linda our Customer Service Manager for sending this:

From Edible Arrangements, J2 was tickled to receive such a special delivery. Even better than the fruit cut into flowers and arranged as a bouquet was this:

The ceramic base featured a hockey goalie! What are the chances that would be an option? The fruit was great all weekend long and the base is now a fixture in his room. Unfortunately his hockey season is over for this year. We have just enough time to get him healed before baseball tryouts.

I just finished the calm cowl, too! I used a cotton boucle from Cherry Tree Hill, and it turned out really lovely. I’m already planning to do a second one using Berrocco’s Lustra in either white or purple as a gift.

I wish him a very speedy recovery, and some good night’s sleep for you!

The edible arrangement is awesome. He can put some cool stuff in the vase afterward. You have some thoughtful employees!!!!!
