Congratulations Crochet Guild of America 2012 Design Competition Winners!
WEBS recently sponsored the accessories category in the Crochet Guild of America‘s Design Competition. The results were amazing! The winners don’t have any patterns written up for their projects yet, but these are beautiful works of art and fantastic inspiration.
Winner of the $100 Third Prize: Romantic Pineapple Shawl Designed by Kathryn White, Apache Junction, AZ
The Romantic Pineapple shawl is made in Lustersheen. The shawl features cluster V stitches with pineapples worked into the piece to give it interest and beauty. Edged with a pineapple border to finish the piece. The shawl measures 68″ wide by 35″ long. This is a luxurious shawl that will make you feel special as it keeps you warm.
Winner of the $200 Second Prize:
Vineyard at Dawn Shawl Desgined by Linda Dean, Placerville, CA
The dew kisses the grapes of the vineyard at dawn, the inspiration for this shawl. Grape and leaf motifs are attached by “meshing” reflecting vines. The shawl is V shaped, allowing a gentle rest on the shoulders and a beautiful drape in the back. This project was completed in Blue Heron Yarn Rayon Metallic.
Winner of the $300 First Prize: Knots of Love Shawl Designed by Kathryn White, Apache Junction, AZ.
This is a light and lovely shawl done in Estillo Tamm yarn in burgundy color. The design features lovers knots surrounding a rose accent. The edging is a clover dangle to finish the piece. This light weight shawl is perfect to dress up anything you wear it with.
