Last Thursday night we were thrilled to welcome Jared Flood (aka Brooklyn Tweed) to WEBS.  He has recently launched an AMAZING pattern booklet in conjunction with Classic Elite Yarns.  Can you think of a better partnership?  Jared has such an eye for classic designs with an updated look and Classic Elite is known for gorgeous yarns and distinctive, traditional design sense.  That’s not so say they are stuck in a time warp, Classic Elite is known for reinventing and updating the classics.  I just think they were super smart to harness Jared’s amazing talent to add to their pool of inspiring designs.

This event is one of those that give us cause to ponder.  Too big for the store, not big enough to go off campus.  Despite some serious summer weather, we opted for a  tent outside:

Our sincere thanks go not only to Jared, but to the 100 or so folks who came to hear him speak and were not flustered in the least by our set-up.

Ideal?  No, not really, we know.  But the best option?  I think we all would agree we were tickled to have the cool temps of the store to adjourn to after Jared’s talk was completed.

Jared was so eloquent and just a lot of fun to have at the shop.  Here’s a small snippet of his design inspiration:

Once the talk was done, we moved indoors for food, fun and Jared’s book signing!

It was a great night.  I am forever grateful to Jared for making time in his schedule to come to WEBS, to Classic Elite and my dear friend Betsy for making sure we had all we needed including many of the garments from his booklet.

Hey – just a quick shout out to Betsy to congratulate her on becoming the new owner of Classic Elite Yarns.  Betsy and I have a relationship that precedes yarn – which is ironic but coool all at the same time.  I am so very proud of her and I know she will take the Classic Elite brand to the next level and beyond.  She is someone I have a ton of respect and admiration for and wish her nothing but the best – cheers Betsy!

Thanks to EVERYONE who came out to the event.  It was a great, great night and I’m so glad we all got to spend time with Jared.
