Free Pattern Thursday: Carnaval Ruffled Scarf in Misti Alpaca Carnaval
Hello!
This week we have a simple, but beautiful accessory for our featured free pattern. The Carnaval Ruffled Scarf comes to us from Misti Alpaca and is knit in Misti Alpaca Carnaval.
I love the ruffled look of this scarf and the rich colors of Carnaval make for great accessories. The super soft blend of alpaca, merino, silk, and a touch of nylon is great for scarves, shawls, garments, and more! The tonal shades add interest to the yarn without taking away from your stitch pattern.

This pattern doesn’t make sense to me. Why cast on 150 (thereabouts) stitches when it looks like it’s knitted from end to end and not side to side? Also, I found the directions to be quite confusing.

It is knitted from end to end. You cast on 152 stitches, but will decrease down to 57 sts by the end of the ruffle section. By quickly decreasing that many stitches, you are creating a ruffle. Most of the scarf is knit with 57 stitches of ribbing.
