Free Pattern Thursday: Monster Chunks from Danger Crafts

Hi Everyone!

I hope you’re all enjoying 2012 so far. Once the holidays (and my knitting and crochet that goes along with them) wind down, I don’t usually want to start a big project, but I need something to keep my hands busy.

These adorable Monster Chunks from Danger Crafts are a great way to use up some stash (perhaps leftover from holiday projects) and keep your hands busy without committing to a big project.

I love that you can knit these in any gauge yarn you have. I have a lot of sock yarn leftovers, so someday I plan on creating my own little army of adorable Monster Chunks.

If you don’t have any stash, you can always check out our Valley Yarns. From Franklin to Northampton Bulky, you can create Monster Chunks of all sizes. You only need about 40 yards of your main color yarn, so you’ll get several monsters from one ball.

If you love the pattern, make sure you check out the other Danger Crafts patterns designed by Rebecca Danger. I have knit several of the monsters and I love them. They are always cute and the patterns are detailed.

I love knitting tiny creatures from Anna Hrachovec’s patterns with leftover bits of yarn. You can make incredible things with a few feet of yarn and a minimum of time!

I tried this for making dog toys – I liked the half-at-a-time technique as I far prefer making decreases to increases.  And the dog LOVED the result.  Something about the smell of raw wool wakes up his wolf ancestors.  About 1 hour per monster, plus felting time (the felting makes it more durable for the dog).
