Free Pattern Thursday – Sweetheart Socks from Knitty.com

Hi Everyone!

This week’s free pattern is from the latest issue of knitty.com. It is the Sweetheart socks by Nikol Lohr.

The socks are knit in Valley Yarns Northampton, which is our 100% wool. I have pretty sensitive skin and I don’t find Northampton to be itchy at all. It will make fantastic, cozy socks!

They are designed with an afterthought heel, which is a great option for a heel. If you haven’t tried and afterthought heel yet, the quick-knit, worsted weight socks are a great way to experiment. You knit the sock, placing the heel stitches on waste yarn. When you’re finished with the entire sock, you return to the heel, pick up the held stitches and work paired decreases, similar to the way you work the toe of the sock.

I think a pair, or more, of these socks may be in my future!

Happy Knitting!

Love these and just requested that my wonderful daughter might knit me up a pair for Mother’s Day ~ possibly in some vibrant color for the wild sock loving woman I am!
