Free Pattern Thursday – Valley Yarns Knit and Crocheted Robins
Hi Everyone,
We have had a couple warmer days recently and it has had us all itching to get back outside and to get all this snow melted (but slowly, so it doesn’t cause more problems than it already has!).
This week’s free pattern is our version of one of those “first signs of Spring.” Meet our Knit Robin and our Crocheted Robin.
These cute birds are worked in Valley Yarns Northampton, our 100% wool with 247 yards per ball.
They were sitting on my desk for a few days before I was able to photograph them, and everyone who walked by just had to pick them up and “ooh and ahh” over them. They certainly brightened my dreary days and I hope they do yours too.
Happy Knitting and Crocheting!
Mary

Love the Robin. I am confused about the stuffing….do you use anything( like a styrofoam ball) first before you wrap the yarn around the ball. 8″ is very large…..thanks….cg who can’t wait until our annual April retreat at Webs April 23rd…..it will be our 8th year! Stock those shelves!

They are actually stuffed with the same yarn they are knit or crocheted with, but they could be stuffed with fiberfil too.

It’s 8″ around loosely wound (not 8″ diameter), so it’s not very large.
