Introducing Valley Yarns Worthington

Here at WEBS we are always excited to unveil a new Valley Yarn! One of our newest yarns has already become a favorite of ours. Valley Yarns Worthington is a tweedy blend of wool, alpaca, and viscose, in a sophisticated color range – easy to wear and definitely fun to craft with!

Worthington is a DK weight yarn with a plied texture that works up at about 5.5 to 6 stitches per inch on a US 5 or 6 needle. It has a slight halo and a beautiful, rustic-feeling hand. Worthington is lightweight and comes in a wearable color palette. It’s sure to become your new go-to for sweaters, hats, and mittens!

One of our favorite things about Worthington is its incredible stitch definition. It’s gorgeous in stockinette, but when it’s worked up in a cable, like this one from Norah Gaughan’s Knitted Cable Sourcebook, that’s when it really shines!

You could also try crocheting a cozy lap rug using several colors – the wool and alpaca blend is warm and cozy, and it will look stunning with your home decor!

Our first Worthington project, Duxbury Mitts, shown in Evergreen, have been a huge hit – who doesn’t love the look of these tweedy cabled mitts? They’re warm, yet lightweight, perfect for wearing at work or while driving if you’re looking to keep your hands cozy without the added bulk of full mittens.  We’re envisioning them knit up in Rhododendron or Arctic for a quick and easy holiday gift.

Worthington is lightweight and comfortable next to the skin, and we’re loving the way it looks in the Adilah Pullover. The fitted silhouette is timeless,  while the flattering V-neck adorned with delicate cables will be fun to knit. The hard part will be choosing a color!

Since it’s starting to get colder here in Western Massachusetts, it’s time to think about hats and mittens for winter. Lucky for us, Adventure Du Jour designed the Box Top Hat and Mittens in Worthington! We love coordinating accessory sets, and this one is definitely a winner. Cables knit on a background of reverse stockinette are always entertaining. We’re thinking about making a set in coordinating colors!
