Knitter’s Pride Cubics Knitting Needles
I’ve been excited about the new Knitter’s Pride Cubics line of square needles since I first got to touch them. The densified laminated birch wood used in their construction is super strong, warp-resistant and has a beautiful natural finish. Warm to the touch, they offer a wrist-friendly ergonomic square shaped shaft, which tapers to a rounded, smooth tip. The special square shape provides a natural flat plane surface that helps your needle tip slide easily under your chosen yarn, reducing the tension in your fingers, hands and wrists while you knit, which aids you in creating a more uniform stitch. The needles sit tightly against each other when held together, and they won’t roll around on the table when you put them down. They are sized in the same way as regular needles, measured diagonally, and they fit into standard needle gauges.
I love sock knitting, and cast on for a sock cuff immediately with a set of the 6 inch US 1 size double pointed needles. The square shape keeps me from wrestling with the yarn, even when I knit tightly, and the yarn moves across the needle surface smoothly, with no snags and a clean, smooth transition between the square shaft and the rounded tip. Since I do tend to poke my fingertips with my needles while I knit, I found the tips to be just right; pointy enough to effortlessly slide under thin, fine yarn, and rounded enough to keep my fingertips happy. The wood holds firm under the normal pressures of knitting, with a gentle flexible give. Even in the thinnest sizes, the needles feel strong and capable of withstanding my enthusiasm. The double pointed needles also come in 8 inch lengths for those who love working with a longer needle.
If you prefer a straight single pointed needle, they come in 10 inch lengths and range in size from US 4 to 11. The fixed circular needles come with a range of sizes from US 2.5 to 11, with cables in 24″, 32″ and 40″ lengths.
If you’ve already purchased one of the Knitters’ Pride Interchangeable Needle sets, and you’d like to add some of the Cubics needles to your set, we are currently carrying the 4.5″ Cubics Interchangeable Needle Tips in sizes ranging from US 6-11.

If you’ve been wondering about square knitting needles, now is the time to go for it and give the Cubics a try. The line has a needle to match anyone’s preference, from DPNs to fixed circulars and even interchangeable tips, and they’re an affordable ergonomic treat for yourself, or for a knitter you love to pamper.

Depending on the price, I would love to try these knitting needles! I suffer from Carpal Tunnel Syndrom and if they help with this condition, then I wouldn’t mind spending a little more on a couple of sets on the square needles!

How does the gauge work in these? If the diagonal length is the same in these as it is in the circular needles, by trig, the circular needles will have a large circumference.
