NEW Bamboo Interchangeable Needles

Share Button

That’s right everyone!  We FINALLY have Bamboo Interchangeable Needles again!

Steve & I have been working on this project for what seems like forever!  Many of you may remember that at one time we did carry a bamboo interchangeable set but had to discontinue it for a variety of reasons.  We’ve searched long and hard to find a partner to produce the set for us at the level of quality we expected.  Needless to say, we saw a lot of crappy needles along the way, but we couldn’t be more thrilled with our new set.  Let me give you tour:

Included in our set is the following:

Nine sets of tips in sizes #4 to #11.  We will also have size #3 available seperately.  The tips are made from high-quality, hard bamboo and won’t split or splinter.  Sizes #4-#6 have a gold-tone base while sizes #7-#11 have a black base, which indicates which diameter of cable should be used.

Four sets of cables in three different lengths (16″, 24″, 32″) – that’s two cables in two diameters in each of the three lengths are included.  The cables themselves are soft and flexible.  Our joins are smooth and secure and do not require a tool of any sort.  Just simply screw on your tips and start knitting!

The set also includes two adaptors (one in each diameter) that allow you to combine cables up to 64″.  There are also two pairs of knobs so you can remove your tips from any active project and use them on a different project.

We’ve also included a Knitter’s Gauge made from durable plastic that will assist you with tracking your gauge and determining needle sizes.  It also has a handy cutting edge!

The set is presented in a gorgeous silk case that folds up for easy storage or travel.  It’s light weight and the construction ensures that everything has a place and stays in their place securely.

Our Bamboo Interchangeable Set, with everything I’ve listed here retails for $109.99.  We think this is a dynamite price considering all of the parts and pieces included.   Additional tips ($6.99) , cables ($3.99 for a pkg of 2), adaptors ($1.00 each) and knobs ($2.00/pair) will also be available separately, along with the #3 tip.

We’re taking preorders now for the sets.  We’ll have some advance sets shortly and will have significant stock within 2-3 weeks.  Open stock will follow later this fall.

I hope you are all as excited as we are.  I know there are many of you who lamented over the demise of our previous set.  We think this one is even better and well worth the wait.

I’d love to hear what you think or answer any questions in the comments!

Kathy

P.S.  It appears that the software I use for comments and WordPress are having an issue.  I was wondering why nobody was commenting!  I was feeling very sad.  I’ll be looking into this and will post back as soon as the glitch is fixed!

KnitPurlGurl mentioned these on her blog, and I have to tell you, they look fabulous! I much prefer bamboo needles to metal, acrylic, or any other material. Hope to try these soon!

  6. Sarah Says:

KnitPurlGirl sent me over. Actually I saw the needles in the fall catalog ….came over to see them, saw the enteries and went to the blog saw the giveaway and came back. I want them!!

  7. Kathy Says:

These needles look fabulous! If I don’t win the giveaway, I might have to see if the family wants to buy a set for my Mom as she only works with bamboo. I love bamboo but since these weren’t an option last year, I’ve been building my Harmony set instead. I hope the adapter idea is extended to some other sets because that will be great for some larger projects (blankets, etc). Keep up the innovative work!

Hi Kathy! My beautiful daughter just bought me this set today for my birthday. I’ve always wanted an interchangeable bamboo needle set and had never seen one for sale until i saw your ad in the new Interweave magazine Winter issue. Hope your stock gets replenished soon as I can hardly wait to receive my set! Thank you in advance for your and Steve’s hard work in researching and obtaining what I think will be my favorite knitting tools.

  14. Ginny B Says:

I just received the 4 tips and 2 sets of cables I ordered to try these out. So far, I am in love. Needles are very, very comfortable and feel good in my hands and the cables are well-behaved. I should have bought a couple of larger size tips to go with the thicker cables, but I am hoping Santa may deliver an early gift…

I received the four sets of tips and two cables I ordered. So far, I am in love. I have tried other interchangeables and didn’t like them at all. The needles are comfortable and feel good in my hands. The cables are well-behaved, unlike so many of the hard, cheap plastic types. I should have ordered some larger tips, but I am hoping Santa may deliver an early gift…a whole set!

  16. Ginny B Says:

    Sorry for double post.

  17. Erzsi Says:

How do these interchangeables work for people who knit in Continental mode? Is it necessary to pause periodically to tighten the connectors or do they stay put regardless of knitting method?

  18. Ginny B Says:

I knit Continental style. Have not had to tighten connectors but I have not yet “loaded” the cables with heavy yarn. I don’t think knitting style affects the connectors; from what I have read from the experience of others, it’s more a matter of weight on the connections.

  19. Susan in Las Vegas Says:

I’m a “2 circ” girl. Is there any possiblity of a “double set” deal?

  20. Mat Says:

    There on back order

  21. RoxyD Says:

These look fabulous! I hope you keep making them. I’ve always liked bamboo needles best, and this is a clear win/win situation with bamboo needles in a well-crafted interchangeable set. Hooray!

  22. HollySue Says:

I love bamboo needles, and have been looking around for an interchangeable set. I have a couple questions I haven’t seen addressed here yet. Will you be getting US size 13 and 15 needles? Is there any reason why more that one connector couldn’t be used to make the length even longer? Will the needles and the cables swivel from each other? Are all parts guaranteed?

    Holly

  23. Natalie Imbier Says:

I am looking for a great set of interchangeable needles…these sound good. Is there an advantage to bamboo over metal or other material? Do you have them available in the store?

  24. doodlemaker Says:

These look so beautiful and I love the case but I’m in a quandary over another set I’ve seen that swivel at the base to keep your project from twisting. I’m a new knitter, only about two years into it so I’m not even sure that’s an issue. Do yours swivel? Does it matter?

    Thanks

  25. beth Says:

How pointed are the tips of the bamboo? I like a pointed tip so the yarn won’t split. The set looks wonderful.

  26. Greenstuff Says:

have used interchangeable in the past and had problems with joints coming apart. wonder if i could purchase yours and try it out. in other words, what is the return policy

  27. Karen Says:

I also have a question on the return policy . . . I would like a set of interchangeables but I have trouble with them coming unscrewed. Can they be returned if this happens?? I would really like a set that joins similar to the Denise interchangeables – they turn and twist in and lock – but I have never found them in bamboo . . .

  28. KnitGnats Says:

I have a question that I did not see addressed yet. Is the shortest cable actually 16″, or does it create a 16″ needle when it’s attached to the needles? I make a lot of hats, and I have to have 16″ needles. Thanks!

  29. Mamamagda Says:

I was lucky & won a set of these needles Nov 2010 @ the Silk Retreat,
I have many circular needles & at first used these when I was lacking a certain size/length, I now find I often turn to this set 1st when starting a project. The joins are superb, very smooth with no problems of them staying connected. I especially like the thicker cable that goes with the larger sized needles so there is less of a ‘bump’ from flex to needle.
I heartily recommend these needles & am waiting to get the additional needle sizes, soon I hope!

  30. Virginia Says:

I’ve had these needles for several months now and love them.  I’ve quit using my single points that I thought I liked and use these for everything!   I can’t get over how light and comfortable they are in my hands.

Yes, the included connectors can make the cables very long if you like.

No, they don’t come apart at the join.  The screws are very long and they tighten alsolutely by hand.  I had read that other needles came apart in use, so I occasionally check the joins to be sure.  These have never loosened the least little bit.  I feel very secure with them.

  31. debi peterson Says:

Why is the price coming up $8.99 for the extra tips in my shopping bag, when they are listed above for $6.99 for each additional pair?
