Hi Everyone,

This week, we have the latest in our Valley Yarns Critter Collection.

With Independence Day just passed here in the US, Kirsten and Sara were inspired to create 411 Crocheted Bald Eagle and 412 Knit Bald Eagle.

I think these little guys are a fun addition to our collection. They are worked in Valley Yarns Northampton. Northampton is a fantastic 100% wool, worsted weight yarn that has 247 yards per ball and is priced at only $4.99, and it’s discountable!

Happy Knitting and Crocheting,

Hi Everyone!

This week, we have June’s installment in our Valley Yarns Critter Collection. We’re all thinking beach, so Kirsten and Sara created a pair of adorable crabs! Valley Yarns #409 Crocheted Crab and Valley Yarns #410 Knit Crab.

These fun friends are worked in Valley Yarns Northampton, which is a great 100% wool. One ball will certainly get you more than one crab.

If you’re local, stop in this weekend to pick up the yarn and participate in the I-91 Shop Hop! There are eleven great yarn stores participating and there will be specials and prizes, including a grand prize of a $100 gift certificate to each store PLUS yarns and other goodies from our suppliers.

Happy Knitting and Crocheting,

Mary

Hi Everyone!

This week’s free pattern is the next in our Valley Yarns critter series. We have Valley Yarns 402 Knit Bluebird and Valley Yarns 401 Crocheted Bluebird.

I love these little cuties and think Kirsten and Sara did a great job designing them.

They are worked in Valley Yarns Northampton, which is a great workhorse, 100% wool. You can do anything with it, from crafting these cute critters to intricate cabling to felting.

Hi Everyone!

We have had a couple of pretty warm days here and our flying friends have come out in full force. Joining them, we have the next installment in our Valley Yarns critter series. May I introduce Valley Yarns 375 Crocheted Bumblebee and Valley Yarns 376 Knit Bumblebee.

You may recognize the this little guy from the weekly “Buzz at WEBS” that appears here on the blog. Kirsten and Sara came up with this bee as soon as we asked, and we were all impressed.

They are worked in Valley Yarns Northampton, which is a great go-to 100% wool, worsted weight yarn. It has 247 yards per ball, so it’s an amazing deal.

Happy Knitting and Crocheting!

By the way – the April Anniversary Sale yarns won’t be on sale anymore come Sunday, so if you haven’t had a chance to grab the ones you want yet, make sure you do. There are a few in there calling my name that may have to follow me home! And, new yarns go on sale on Sunday, May 1st, so you’ll want to check those out, especially if you’re a fan of Noro Kureyon (Steve gave it away on the podcast last week, so I think it’s okay that I share!).

Free Pattern Thursday: Knit and Crocheted Lamb

Hi Everyone,

This week we have the Valley Yarns critter for the month of March. The old saying says March goes out like a lamb, so what is more fitting for the last day of March than a lamb, in both a knit and crocheted version.

Meet Valley Yarns #373 Knit Lamb and Valley Yarns #374 Crocheted Lamb. Both are worked in super soft Valley Yarns Amherst.

If you’re thinking Easter baskets, check out our February pattern for the rabbit. I think the pair would be cute additions to your baskets, or table!

Don’t forget, tomorrow is April 1st, and not only does that mean April Fool’s Day (watch out for pranks!) it’s also the first day of our Anniversary Sale (which certainly isn’t a joke!). There are lots of great yarns to stock up on in the sale this month and next.

Happy Knitting and Crocheting (and sale shopping!),

Hi Everyone,

We have had a couple warmer days recently and it has had us all itching to get back outside and to get all this snow melted (but slowly, so it doesn’t cause more problems than it already has!).

This week’s free pattern is our version of one of those “first signs of Spring.” Meet our Knit Robin and our Crocheted Robin.

These cute birds are worked in Valley Yarns Northampton, our 100% wool with 247 yards per ball.

They were sitting on my desk for a few days before I was able to photograph them, and everyone who walked by just had to pick them up and “ooh and ahh” over them. They certainly brightened my dreary days and I hope they do yours too.

Happy Knitting and Crocheting!

Free Pattern Thursday: Knit and Crocheted Rabbit

Hi Everyone,

This week we have two free patterns. They are next in our series of little “critters” that started with our penguin and polar bear.

I would like to introduce to you our Rabbit. We have both a knit and crocheted version. They are worked in Valley Yarns Amherst.

Why a rabbit you ask? Well, the Chinese New Year is celebrated on February 3rd and the coming year is the year of the rabbit.

We also had a few misses on our idea for January. Kathy thought that “Baby New Year” would be a great idea, but as you can see from the picture it just wasn’t quite right.

Then Kirsten thought that maybe a champagne bottle would work. Cute, but some of us thought it looked a little more like a fig.

And then we came to our rabbit, which you may also want to bookmark for April because I think our rabbit could easily double as a bunny!

Happy Knitting and Crocheting!

New Crochet Critters

Hi Everyone!

We’re super excited around the office today because Sara, one of our employees (and exceptional crochet teacher and designer) has created crochet versions of our turkey and our penguin and polar bear!

They are worked in Valley Yarns Northampton just like the knit versions.  The Penguin & Polar Bear pattern is $1.99 to download and the Turkey is free. All three each measure about 4″ tall.

There’s still plenty of time to whip up your own collection of turkeys before Thanksgiving here in the US. The penguin and polar bear would also look great on top of your holiday gifts! I saw someone mention on Ravelry that they were going to create a whole tree full of penguins and polar beads and I love that idea.

We hope you love these cuties as  much as we do!

Happy Crocheting!

Mary
