As we sink into the dog days of summer it’s time to think about little projects that you can work on that won’t fill your lap with yarn. The Jazerant Set by Emma Welford is the perfect end of summer project. Knit in the gorgeous Valley Yarns Northfield hand dyed by Malabrigo these two small pieces have lots of great details to keep your knitting interesting without being daunting. Non-symmetrical ribbing frames gorgeous winding cables which hide winking little beads! What’s not to love?!

Emma has worked at WEBS for several years and we’re so happy to see her designing career really starting to take off, with designs published by Valley Yarns as well as Universal Yarns, Holla Knits, Knitscene, special issues of Interweave, and her own self published patterns. For working with the beads in this pattern, which are optional, she offers two working solutions, “Beads are placed as you work on purl stitches. Place a bead on a stitch by threading the bead on to a steel crochet hook, then use the hook to draw the stitch through the bead. Alternately, slip the stitch on to a thin, flexible piece of wire, bend the ends of the wire together so it forms a long needle. Thread the bead on to the needle and slip it down on to the stitch. Purl the beaded stitch.”

Which color of the Northfield hand dyed by Malabrigo would you choose? (I’m leaning towards the Primavera!)

The Spring/Summer 2013 issue of Holla Knits was released recently and we are super excited about it here at WEBS and happy to be participating in the blog tour. Not only does it have a great selection of hip patterns that are perfect for warm weather, one of them is designed by our very own Emma Welford!

Just Beachy is knit in Valley Yarns Goshen and is a perfect layering piece for summer. Throw it on over anything. The fun colorblock detail adds a bit of contrast, but if you wanted to, you could easily knit this in just one color.

We’re giving away the yarn to knit yourself your very own Just Beachy. In the comments section, let us know what you love the most about summer. Congratulations to Sally who wrote:

“So pretty! I’m in a “dark”-ish mood, I’d love to use Grape & Charcoal in the Northfield, where Charcoal would be the rib & picture & then pair them with Arctic in the Huntington. Oh my, want!”

It was so much fun reading all of your color combinations, but now I can’t decide which one I want to do!

Holla Knits Accessories Blog Tour and Giveaway

Holla Knits recently released their Accessories 2012 collection. It is a great group of accessory patterns including one by WEBS-own Emma Welford. Emma is our purchasing coordinator and has recently jumped into designing and we love all of the projects she is creating.

Featured in Holla Knits Accessories 2012, Emma has the Wallpaper Cowl. Valley Yarns Northfield and Valley Yarns Huntington are paired in this great design. The cowl is knit in Northfield and it is lined with Huntington.

We love the bold colorwork pattern paired with the solid lining. It’s a great way to experiment with color and a fantastic way to brighten up a neutral wardrobe. I have a lot of black and gray in my closet and I think I may pick some favorite colors of Northfield and knit this for myself!

Since we’re so excited about Emma’s design and the entire Holla Knits Accessories 2012 collection, we’re giving away the Northfield and Huntington you need to knit the cowl.

Just leave a comment with the color combination of Northfield and Huntington you would use by 9:00AM EDT on Monday, October 29th.
