End of Summer Sale – Bulky yarns for quick projects

Chilly Autumn days are just around the corner and we have some great yarns in our End of Summer sale perfect for working up chunky, last minute accessories and garments.

Plymouth Yarns Sophia Tweed in the WEBS End of Summer Sale, until Aug. 22, 2015 at yarn.com Great for quick knit, crochet or woven accessories! Read more on the WEBS Blog at blog.yarn.com

Plymouth Sophia Tweed not only has great color, but amazing texture as well. A lightly spun single of wool and acrylic is wrapped with a rayon thread for a thick and thin yarn with so much color! This yarn could be worked on smaller needles at a worsted gauge for a dense fabric or loose and light for bulky scarves and hats with lots of warmth but not a lot of weight. I even wove up a scarf on my cricket loom, I used a 5 dent reed, and it only took me 2 hours! 3 skeins would easily make two 60″ plainweave scarves, not bad for just under $21.

grandiosa

Grandiosa is a beautiful super bulky, wool and alpaca blend in hand dyed colors. Not only would this make super cozy accessories but great little sweaters, too.

deaire

If you’re looking for a bulky yarn that doesn’t weigh down your knitting then Plymouth DeAire is the yarn you’re looking for! With an I-cord construction there’s lots of air in this yarn giving you tons of warmth without the weight. It even knits up into wonderful blankets, like this one that only uses 9 skeins, less than $80 for that whole project!

Do you have a favorite go-to project for bulky yarn?

If you’re a fan of Noro you have to love the idea of a Noro yarn with cashmere! Shiro is a wool/silk blend with 30% cashmere in some of your favorite Noro color combos. With a little more than one skein you can make the adorable Eyelet Beanie, 3 skeins will make 2 hats! At a DK weight this yarn is perfect for all kinds of accessories and garments.

Noro Shiro in the WEBS End of Summer Sale, until Aug. 22, 2015 at yarn.com Perfect for the Eyelet Beanie. Read more on the WEBS Blog at blog.yarn.com

We have several other yarns that work up with great colors shifts. Souk from Cascade yarns is a blend of wool and silk with nice, long color repeats, and several FREE patterns! Try the shawl, cowl or sweater or substitute this yarn into your favorite pattern that calls for a worsted weight yarn.

Cascade Souk in the WEBS End of Summer Sale, until Aug. 22, 2015 at yarn.com Great for hats, shawls, and colorful accessories. Read more on the WEBS Blog at blog.yarn.com

Wisdom Yarns Poems Forte is a super bulky wool yarn with fun color shifts. This would work up into quick and easy accessories, hats, mittens, scarves. I even crocheted a cowl for myself while watching a movie the other night, simple and easy double crochet letting the yarn do all the work! And because it’s 100% wool this yarn would also felt beautifully.

Wisdom Yarns Poems Forte in the WEBS End of Summer Sale, until Aug. 22, 2015 at yarn.com Crochet a quick cowl while you binge watch your favorite show. Read more on the WEBS Blog at blog.yarn.com
