Our Dreamz knitting needles hardly need an introduction they’ve been so popular. But in case you hadn’t heard we wanted to make sure you didn’t get left out. The staff (and customers) have been particularly excited by the new line of Dreamz needles. And for good reason, the Dreamz are a unique color tinted set of needles with a smooth hand at a reasonable price. The Dreamz line is so extensive I wanted to take a moment to walk you through it and familiarize you with this great and affordable needle line.

The Dreamz are constructed of laminated birch, an affordable needle to make and a durable needle to invest in. Not only is it considered a dense, smooth wood allowing for sharp points and smooth finish; it is considered stronger than ebony and rosewood at a much less expensive price point. Additionally, its construction is resistant to water absorption, making it particularly suited against warping.

A favorite aspect of this line is its color coded system. Each size is assigned a different lovely wood stain, and the colors are consistently matched to sizes across the Dreamz line. Sizes are marked clearly on the needles as well.

We offer 10” Single Pointed Needles in US sizes 2.5–17 (3-12mm). These lightweight needles share the graduated and ample tip of the other Dreamz needles. All sizes are available separately as well as together in the Dreamz Single Points Needle Set. The set includes sizes US 2.5–11 in a stylish black jacquard zippered case.

Our Dreamz Double Pointed Needles are sold in packs of 5 with a length option of 5”, 6” or 8”. The 5 and 6” lengths are available in sizes US 0–6, and the 8” spans the US 2.5–11. Additionally, there are Double Pointed Needle Sets available in 5” or 6” which include US sizes 0–3, each set is organized in its own vinyl carrying case. Although warping is of less concern for this style of needle the thinner needles will still need to be treated with care.

Dreamz Fixed Circular Knitting Needless have a smooth nickel plated join and supple cord particularly suited for magic loop. The wide range of cord lengths include 16” in US sizes 0-11 and 24”, 32”, 40” and 47” in US sizes 0–19. To aid in size differentiation MM and US sizes are etched into the join as well as the wooden tip.

The Dreamz Interchangeable Circular Deluxe Set is a great way to economically collect all sizes and lengths of needles in one compact vinyl case. The set comes with a set of 9 tips, US sizes 4–11. Shorter tips are available separately for creating a 16” needle to supplement the interchangeable set.

Deluxe sets can be expanded with additional tips and cables including the Chunky Set, which includes US sizes 13, 15 and 17. If you aren’t ready for the investment of the Deluxe set the Starter Set provides a great low-commitment way to try them out. The Dreamz Starter Set includes US sizes 6, 9 and 10. If you haven’t set your heart on a needle material yet there’s also a Comby Set with samples of Dreamz, Nova and Trendz acrylic needles, to help you decide which needle you like working with best.

Although we’ve covered the crochet line before, the Dreamz lineup would not be complete without its mention. Our Dreamz Crochet Hooks and Dreamz Interchangeable Tunisian Crochet Hooks are available singly in US sizes E–12mm as a perfect supplement for any collection. The Dreamz Crochet Hook Set and Interchangeable Tunisian Crochet Hook Set sets feature sizes US E–L and come in a handy vinyl carrying case.

Our trio set of Dreamz Cable Needles is a really clever set. Not only are the cable needles various lengths, they are marked with US sizes and correspond with the color coded needles. How fantastic!

It’s clear that this has been a customer favorite. I must admit that we are smitten with this needle line as well. But don’t just take our word for it, make sure to sample these needles yourself, and see what all the fuss is about.

This week the staff at WEBS is buzzing about…

1. Craft Activism is a gorgeous book with fun projects representing the many different ways crafters are working to positively impact their environments, create community or support a cause!  The book is filled with interesting stories and colorful projects – I especially like the choose-your-own-chart colorwork mittens, and the tin can flowers are adorable. I can’t wait to see some of these projects in person at the Craft Activism event next week! > Tina M.

2. Cascade Yarns 220 Fingering – The notoriously reliable 220 line introduces another versatile basic in a fingering weight. Soft and lightly plied at 7.5 stitches per one inch on a US 2.  We are carrying a lovely range of 57 shades!! Visions of colorwork are dancing in my head! > Cara S.

3. Swans Island Fingering yarn is a magical combination of soft, sturdy, and sproing-y that you don’t see too often. I just knit up a sweater in it on size 6 needles, and the yarn not only held its own at the bigger gauge, but made an incredibly light, soft fabric – in fact, my boyfriend and roommate now make fun of me every time I pick it up because I’ve raved about it so much!

4. Knitter’s Pride Symfonie Rose Crochet Hook Set – I fell hard for this set of hooks when I first saw them. They are simply stunning and are embellished with Swarovski crystals! Sparkly crochet hooks that look and feel great – what more can a girl ask for? > Kathy

5. I am buzzing with excitement about the National Spinning and Weaving Week here at WEBS. We will be having a wide variety of activities including daily demonstrations, mini-workshops and more. Tuesday night will be a spinning open house and the store will be open until 9pm, with demonstrations of all our spinning wheels. Wednesday we will welcome weavers and spinners from near and far for a meetup day with raffles, goodies bags and more. > Leslie Ann B.

Knitter’s Pride Interchangeable Needles

Hi Everyone,

Have you gotten a chance to check out the Knitter’s Pride line that we recently started carrying? Today, I would like to introduce you to the interchangeable needles. Interchangeable sets are great because you pretty much always have the needle you need and if you’re a circular fan (like I am), one set is a lot more compact than nine sets of fixed circulars.

We currently have four deluxe sets. Dreamz, Nova, Trendz (Spectra acrylic), and Symfonie Rose. Each set comes with the needle tips (8 pairs in the Trendz and 9 in Dreamz, Nova, and Symfonie Rose), 4 cords (Trendz has 1 each 24″, 32″, 40″, 47″ and Dreamz, Nova, and Symfonie Rose come with 1 24″, 2 32″, and 1 40″), 8 end caps, 4 cord keys, 1 cord case, and a vinyl case that holds everything. The Symfonie Rose come in a beautiful leatherette case, which makes it perfect for gifting!

The cords screw onto the needle tips with the cord key. Simply insert the key into the hold on the cord after screwing the needle on and use it as leverage to securely tighten the tip to the cord.

In addition to the Deluxe Sets, we also have Starter sets in Dreamz and Nova and Chunky sets in Dreamz and Nova. Each comes with 3 sets of needle tips, 2 cords (24″ and 32″), 4 end caps, and 2 cord keys in a vinyl case.

If you’re not sure which needle material is best for you, we have the Comby Interchangeable Sampler Set which features a pair of tips from the Nova, Dreamz, and Spectra line. Also included are 2 cords (24″ and 40″) as well as end caps and cords.

Another interchangeable option that is not yet offered in a set, but is available as interchangeable tips is the Cubics line. These cube-shaped tips are ergonomic and comfortable. They are the same Symfonie birch wood as the Symfonie Rose and Dreamz needles.

All of the needle tips (except the Spectra acrylic) are available individually, so if there’s a size you use more often, or a size that doesn’t come with the set that you would like, you can purchase them. Cords can also be purchased individually to fill in lengths as you need them. The Knitter’s Pride cords are super flexible without being limp and you can easily magic loop with them (I’m working on a project right now using the needles and magic loop).

If you like interchangeable needles, but have been disappointed that you aren’t able to get 16″ interchangeable needles, you’ll be happy to know that next month, we’ll be getting shorter tips in the Dreamz and Nova line to go with the 16″ cord to create 16″ circular needles, perfect for hats, sleeves, and more.

Check out the interchangeable needle introductory video featuring our wonderful assistant store manager Cara.

Next week, we’ll feature a post about the wonderful crochet hooks that are available, including the Dreamz Interchangeable Tunisian Hook Set, which is quite handy to have to use in conjunction with your Interchangeable Knitting Needle Set. You can use the hook to easily pick up stitches along the edge of your project and simply switch tips to begin knitting!

Enjoy!

Knitter’s Pride Needles & More

Hi Everyone

There is not a week that goes by when we don’t receive some new product, be it a new yarn, book or tool.  Last week, we received a very large and very special shipment of new products.  Knitter’s Pride needles, hooks & accessories have finally arrived here at WEBS and we are all super excited!

Knitter’s Pride is a line of needles, hooks & accessories that are produced in India by KnitPro.  Overall, the line is HUGE.  It’s going to take a few blog posts to really do the line justice and to give you all of the info.   Let me share an overview of each of the 5 different needle types:

The Dreamz line is made from Symfonie wood and each needle is color coded by size.

I love this concept – makes it so easy to find the size you want!  The wood is smooth as are the joins.  The cables are soft and flexible as well.  The points are sharp, though I realize the degree of sharpness can be interpreted differently by different knitters.   In working with the needles, I found my yarn moved easily and the needles felt great in my hands.

The Dreamz line is available in interchangeables, fixed circulars, dpns, straights, crochet hooks & tunisian crochet hooks.  The interchangeables can be purchased individually or in sets.  The Deluxe Set contains:

  •  9 sets of tips in sizes #4-#11,
  • 4 cords (1 each 24″ & 40″ and 2 each 32″),
  • 1 set of  of size markers, 8 end caps, 4 cord keys & 1 cord case
  • Set is packaged in a clear vinyl case

The Deluxe Set retails for $82.99.  There is also a Starter Set of three different tip sizes that is a great way to give these needles a test run.  The Starter Set retails for $29.99.

The Nova line includes  interchangeables, fixed circs, dpns and 10″ straight needles in nickle plated brass. The Nova line has the same great construction features as the Dreamz line.  The nickle plated brass finish makes for smooth movement of your stitches.  The Nova Deluxe Set contains all of the same parts & pieces at the Dreamz Set and retails for $69.99.  The Nova Starter Set is $26.99.

Both Dreamz & Nova also have a Chunky Set that contains tips in sizes #13-#17.

Knitter’s Pride Cubics are square needles made from Symfonie wood with a rosewood colored finish.  The Cubics are not currently available as a set, but one will be coming shortly.  Cubics come in interchangeables, fixed circs, dpns & straights.  For those of you who love knitting with square needles or have been curious about them, the Cubics are worth a try.

Knitter’s Pride Basix are jumbo needles made of Birchwood.  Available in fixed circs that range in size from #11-#50 in four different cord lengths.  For those of you who like knitting bulkier weight yarns, our #50 fixed circs are the only ones on the market at this size.  Basix are also available in 8″ dpns in sizes #11-#36.  Basix are affordable starting in price at $5.49 for fixed circs and $6.99 for dpns.

Last in terms of type is the Trendz needles.  Available only as an interchangeable set, Trendz are acrylic needle colored by size like the Dreamz interchangeables.  The Deluxe Set features:

  •  9 sets of tips in sizes #4-#11,
  • 4 cords (1 each 24″, 32″, 40″, 47″ )
  • 1 set of  of size markers, 8 end caps, 4 cord keys & 1 cord case
  • Set is packaged in a clear vinyl case

The Trendz Deluxe Set retails for $36.99.

There is so much information about these amazing new needles that I want to share with you but I don’t want to overwhelm you either.

What do you think so far? Are you excited about the Knitter’s Pride line?  Share your thoughts and any questions in the comments!

Enjoy!

After the crochet chain, you’ll work the main body of the cowl. Round 4 and 5 you work into the chain, not the chain space. You should have a loose gauge here, so you shouldn’t have to force the hook.

Learn from us and make sure you check your gauge! A couple double crochets off over four inches makes a huge difference in the finished size. Make sure you’re working nice and loose!
