My personal favorite, Valley Yarns Northfield, is featured in two, beautiful new sweater patterns this month!

Cranston, designed by Fiona Ellis for Twist Collective Winter 2016 features Celtic Knotwork inspired cables in a rich, classic red with timeless styling and shaping. A true wardrobe staple!

And from knit.wear Wool Studio 2016: A Winter Pattern Collection, Linda Marveng has designed the Brewster Cardigan to be a stylish, but comfy cardigan with beautiful cable details and a fun construction with optional pockets.

The blend of merino, baby alpaca, and silk in this yarn shows off texture and cable stitches beautifully while staying squishy and soft. When it’s’ sweater season and there are beautiful patterns like these to choose from there really is no reason not to stock up on Valley Yarns Northfield and cast on!

With the last days of summer fast approaching and school starting again it’s time to begin thinking about knits for the cooler weather. Our two newest designs feature Valley Yarns Northfield, my favorite yarn! Not only does the blend of Merino, Baby Alpaca and Silk create an incredibly soft and bouncy yarn with a gorgeous sheen, but it’s also incredibly affordable!

Fiona’s latest design for Valley Yarns is the Irena Pullover with stunningly simple cable and eyelet  details at the neck, hem and on the sleeves.

And Carol’s whimsical First Frost Hat may just be the perfect first lace project!

With a full range of rich colors of Northfield to choose from your biggest decision may not be which project to cast on for first, but which color to use!

We released 3 beautiful shawls and a bold, modern cowl this past month!

The Poet’s Corner Shawl with it’s rich deep purple and delicately ruffled edge, the Crisanta Shawl with it’s gentle crescent shape and botanical lace border, and the Anthemis Cowl with it’s bright, gradient stripes, all knit in our ethereal Valley Yarns Hatfield. And the Shenandoah Valley Shawl, a stunning rectangular wrap with geometric cable and lace in one of our favorites, Valley Yarns 2/14 Alpaca Silk.

In August we’re gearing up for all new designs from our Fall 2016 catalog and two new patterns just for our Valley Yarns Northfield. Fall knitting is right around the corners and we’re ready!

With the warmer weather finally starting to settle in we couldn’t be happier to present the latest design from Fiona Ellis, Made to Border! This cute little cap sleeve cardigan is perfect for throwing on over a tank top or light summer dress. The main feature of this design is the border patterning which morphs into gradually diminishing cables. The top is completed with simple edging and a knitted tie closure.

Made to Border will soon become your go to layering cardigan! The silk content of the Valley Yarns Northfield gives your stitches shine which enhances your stitch definition, a total plus with cable work, while the baby alpaca give it the softest halo, and the merino ties it all together into a springy yarn that is a joy to knit.

The Cirro Tee by Linda Permann is a simple yet gorgeous crocheted tee designed in Valley Yarns Northfield Hand Dyed by Malabrigo. Everyone is looking for that perfect t-shirt pattern and this may just fit the bill! An easy to memorize two row pattern creates a textured and flexible fabric that results in a lightweight and very wearable crochet garment. The simple cap sleeves and understated waist shaping make this a flattering shapes for almost everyone.

Linda is a designer and author that has lived all over the US. Her work has been featured in many of today’s top knitting and crochet publications. “Crocheting is my passion, but I love to sew, knit and quilt too. I wear many hats: I’m a crochet and craft designer, writer, editor and a crochet/knitting teacher. I work full time at Craftsy.com, and I also teach. I love creating modern patterns using quality yarns, showing crochet in its best lightl!”

As we sink into the dog days of summer it’s time to think about little projects that you can work on that won’t fill your lap with yarn. The Jazerant Set by Emma Welford is the perfect end of summer project. Knit in the gorgeous Valley Yarns Northfield hand dyed by Malabrigo these two small pieces have lots of great details to keep your knitting interesting without being daunting. Non-symmetrical ribbing frames gorgeous winding cables which hide winking little beads! What’s not to love?!

Emma has worked at WEBS for several years and we’re so happy to see her designing career really starting to take off, with designs published by Valley Yarns as well as Universal Yarns, Holla Knits, Knitscene, special issues of Interweave, and her own self published patterns. For working with the beads in this pattern, which are optional, she offers two working solutions, “Beads are placed as you work on purl stitches. Place a bead on a stitch by threading the bead on to a steel crochet hook, then use the hook to draw the stitch through the bead. Alternately, slip the stitch on to a thin, flexible piece of wire, bend the ends of the wire together so it forms a long needle. Thread the bead on to the needle and slip it down on to the stitch. Purl the beaded stitch.”

The Fall issue of Twist Collective is out and once again it is full or gorgeous knitwear designs! We are in love with the new cardigan from Quenna Lee, Caledonia, knit in our Valley Yarns Northfield.

The body of this cardigan is worked in one piece from the lower edge to the armholes, then divided for front and back. The sleeves are worked in the round from stitches picked up around the armholes. The sweater features a shaped waist and a square neckline. The ribbed cable and eyelet patterns are presented both in charts and in row-by-row instructions.

Valley Yarns Northfield makes an appearance in the Spring 2014 issue of Knitscene in the Rietveld Sweater designed by Mari Chibi.

With over 20 colors of Northfield to choose from you’re sure to find the perfecting color blocking combination. Which 2 colors would you use?

We can’t believe it’s been 5 years since Twist Collective debuted. The Fall 2013 issue is out and we’re thrilled that it features two great patterns using our own Valley Yarns! Valley Yarns have been featured in many issues and we’re always excited to see what other designers are doing with our yarns.

First up is the Doverfell Cardigan, a zippered hoodie pattern available in both adult and child sizes.

We love the simple textured stitches that frame the zipper and continue down onto the inset pockets. The adult version is made in Northfield while the child’s version was knit in Valley Superwash DK.

Second is the Ossel dress knit in Valley Yarns Northampton.

This pattern features some gorgeous cables in combination with moss stitch for a body hugging dress that really shows off your curves, and with the saddle shoulder construction those sleeve cables aren’t interrupted at the shoulder.

5. LaniO’s Asymmetrical Buttoned Raglan knit in snuggly Valley Yarns Sheffield would be the perfect sweater to pull on to get rid of a chill. Plus I love the button detail of Kirsten Hipsky’s design.
