End of Summer Sale – Bulky yarns for quick projects
Tuesday, August 18th, 2015Chilly Autumn days are just around the corner and we have some great yarns in our End of Summer sale perfect for working up chunky, last minute accessories and garments.
Plymouth Sophia Tweed not only has great color, but amazing texture as well. A lightly spun single of wool and acrylic is wrapped with a rayon thread for a thick and thin yarn with so much color! This yarn could be worked on smaller needles at a worsted gauge for a dense fabric or loose and light for bulky scarves and hats with lots of warmth but not a lot of weight. I even wove up a scarf on my cricket loom, I used a 5 dent reed, and it only took me 2 hours! 3 skeins would easily make two 60″ plainweave scarves, not bad for just under $21.
Grandiosa is a beautiful super bulky, wool and alpaca blend in hand dyed colors. Not only would this make super cozy accessories but great little sweaters, too.
If you’re looking for a bulky yarn that doesn’t weigh down your knitting then Plymouth DeAire is the yarn you’re looking for! With an I-cord construction there’s lots of air in this yarn giving you tons of warmth without the weight. It even knits up into wonderful blankets, like this one that only uses 9 skeins, less than $80 for that whole project!
