I-cord ties worked into the sleeves of this wide-necked raglan pullover allow you to choose how much shoulder peeks through. This fantastic cover-up is worked from the bottom up in the round to the underarms.

This week’s free pattern comes from Universal Yarn. It is called Cable Style and is a lovely pullover that is knit in Universal Yarn Eden Silk.

Eden Silk is a lovely blend of wool and silk. Since the two fibers take the dye differently, there is a slightly heathered look to the yarn which adds interest. It also happens to be in our sale this month!

The classic design of this sweater has cables that not only offer visual interest, but also interest while knitting. This sweater will live long in your wardrobe!

There are only a few days left to save on April Anniversary Sale yarn! Have you picked up what you wanted yet? I still have a few things I need to purchase before May 1st.

Valley Yarns Show & Tell: 280 Lyonesse Pullover

Hi Everyone,

For the fall catalog, Kirsten decided that a re-knit was in order for 280 Lyonesse Pullover. It is slightly different from the original version of the project. It is shorter and knit in a different color.

It is knit in Valley Yarns Northfield. Northfield is a beautiful DK weight blend of merino, baby alpaca, and silk. Its construction makes it great for cables, they really pop!

We tried on the 32″ size.

Height: 5’3″
Bust: 37″
Waist: 30″
Hips: 42″

“So cute and flattering. I could make the body longer, but I think I like it at this cropped length.”

Height: 5’4¾”
Bust: 35½”
Waist: 29½”
Hips: 40″

“I’m not exactly sure why I don’t like this sweater on me. It fits me well, and nice cable detail. But something about it I’m not connecting to. Maybe if it had full length sleeves.”

Height: 5’7 ½”
Bust: 36¾”
Waist: 34¾”
Hips: 38½”

“While this pullover isn’t my style I do like the lovely cables. I think the cropped cut and the shorter sleeve length are flattering to my body, and would be flattering to many body types.”

Height: 5’4″
Bust: 39½
Waist: 32″
Hips: 43″

“This sweater is pretty cute – I like the length and wear the sleeves hit, but I think the allover cable is a little too much for me.”

Height: 5’2″
Bust: 40″
Waist: 33½”
Hips: 43″

“I really like the feel of Northfield and the structure of this yarn makes the details of the cables shine. This sweater was cozy without being overly warm. For myself, I would knit the next size up – this size felt tight across the chest and arms.”

Next week, we’ll have another Show and Tell from the fall collection!

Free Pattern Thursday: Catalpa in Berroco Remix

Hi Everyone,

The seasons have changed here in New England, though for the past week we’ve been dealing with some pretty sticky, humid days. It has been a little hard to think about switching to sweaters, but the leaves are slowly starting to change and it is getting darker earlier in the evening. I can picture lots of use out of this sweater from Berroco. Catalpa has great textural stitches and detail. I really love the way they pop.

It is knit in Berroco Remix, which is a soft blend of many recycled fibers. Another great thing about Remix – it’s machine washable! This would make a great sweater for Rhinebeck (New York Sheep & Wool) if you’re a super speedy knitter!

Hi Everyone,

This week’s free pattern comes to us from Berroco and is a great layering piece. Jujuba is knit in Berroco Seduce.

Each side is knit in one piece and then there is a decorative three-needle bind-off in the center. The airy fabric that Seduce creates is a fun layer for your wardrobe, and even with Fall coming, you can still wear this pullover.
