Our busiest weekend of the year has passed! Keep scrolling for an insider’s look at our 15th Annual Tent Sale and Fleece Market!

headerSaturday morning starts off with a quick meeting (and pep talk!) for store staff. Tent Sale is all-hands on deck, so even those who do not work in the retail store are on hand to help out! We want to make sure everyone is on the same page – it helps the lines move faster,  and helps us provide the best service we can to our customers.

storemeetingWe have tons of high-quality yarns on sale! At Tent Sale, you can often find your favorite brands for $2.50 and $5.00 a skein – not to mention full bags of yarn at unbeatable sale prices!

Untitled design (2)We love it when customers show up wearing knitwear! This customer came wearing her gorgeous Shusui Shrug by Susanne Sommer. It looks like a generous brioche shawl, but it’s actually an open cardigan! It’s definitely giving us some finished object – envy

Last Chance at Incredible Savings!

Our annual Year End Blowout Sale is almost over and tomorrow is your last chance to save on over 100 yarns, needles and more! Incredibly, the sale has been extended for two extra days and of course the yarn has taken this opportunity to tell me more things I should be making with it!

I’m still trying to focus on making some additions to my summer wardrobe so I’m looking at Noro Kibou and the Midori Pullover. That’s some fairly mindless knitting right there with gorgeous results! Just two rectangles, knit on the bias, that take advantage of the magical striping thing that Noro yarns do, and the Kibou is a mostly cotton and silk blend that makes it a wonderful summer yarn. I’ve got a mini vacation coming up in February with a couple long train rides and this may just become my travel project for that trip!

And now that I’m thinking about garments I’m also thinking about how happy a good cardigan makes me and the Super Fine Merino Aran from Rowan would wonderful to work with, especially in that chestnut color. Maybe I could pair it with a stripe in the Teak or Smoke colorway for the Sawtelle Cardigan, lots of squishy, easy garter stitch! I love a versatile cardigan and I can see myself tossing this on with a pair of dress pants and an oxford or jeans and a t-shirt.

But now I’m thinking that I also want a quick and easy, instant gratification project for myself, especially considering all the projects I just finished up for everyone else over the holidays, and how many I’ve planned already for this year. So, I’m going to pick up a couple skeins of Icicle Chunky and knit up a bright, white, wintery and quick cowl to wear on that trip I’m taking next month! This isn’t a yarn that would normally call my name but it is unbelievably soft and will certainly keep out the chill winter wind. Good thing the Colonial dpns are on sale, I don’t have anything in my stash big enough to knit this one!

May Sales bring Summer Weaving

Greetings from the Weaving Room! What a glorious holiday weekend! I was reveling in that sweet transition from spring into summer, trying to maintain my personal balancing act between weaving and gardening. Having transplanted the seedlings into the gardens, now I turn to organizing my summer weaving. It’s the last week of our Anniversary Sale and there are some great yarns for warm weather projects.

Valley Yarns 5/2 Bamboo, on sale through May 31, 2015 in WEBS Anniversary Sale at

One of my personal favorites is Valley Yarns 5/2 Bamboo. I love the subtle sheen of the yarn and the beautifully soft drape that makes it a perfect choice for summer scarves. We have some stunning drafts for this yarn, featuring a variety of weave structures. For a striking pattern in subtle tone-on-tone colors, try Draft #72 Advancing 5-end Twill Scarf. The Lemongrass Scarf, Draft # 78, is a simple 4-shaft scarf with two contrasting colors that really pop. And then there’s Virginia West’s delightful and colorful Lattice Scarf, Draft #04 from our 40th Anniversary series. A fun adventure in deflected double weave, it uses the bamboo to add an overlay of texture and depth to a tencel scarf.

Valley Yarns Fine Linens, on sale through May 31, 2015 in WEBS Anniversary Sale at

Another good summer yarn is linen and we have most of our fine linens on sale this month. Linen is crisp and cool and lends itself well to towels, runners and other household textiles. Most of which, I might add, make magnificent wedding and housewarming gifts! And, naturally, we have some fine drafts for you to use in creating such heirlooms. The standout is Scott Norris’s Foxhead Towels which he designed as part of the 40th Anniversary series, it is #05. A classic overshot on 4-shafts, the draft combines 40/2 and 20/2 linen and gives the weaver several options for varying the pattern. Another classic that is beautiful in its simplicity is Draft#46, Atwater – Bronson Lace Table Runner. The detail of the lace creates a lovely texture in the half-bleach 20/2 linen.

The Anniversary Sale runs through May 31st. What will you get to seed your summer weaving?

Have you had a chance to make it to our Tent Sale? If you haven’t, you do not want to miss out this year! It is taking place Saturday and Sunday, May 17th and 18th at our store in Northampton, MA. In addition to our great Anniversary Sale yarns, we’ll have amazing deals under the tent that you can only get at the store this weekend.

WEBS Tent Sale May 17-18, 2014

All weekend, all of our in-stock spinning wheels, tools, and fiber are 20% off. This is the perfect weekend to pick up that spinning wheel you’ve been dreaming about. It’s not often that we have sales on spinning wheels, so take advantage of it while you can.

Shop under the tent at WEBS Tent Sale

On Saturday, we have a real treat. Our Annual Fleece Market takes place in our parking lot. Each year, local vendors set up and you can shop all of their great products. In addition, this year, we will have food vendors. We’re pretty excited about this, and for you it means not giving up your coveted parking spot to snag some snacks, or lunch. (You can see the list of fleece and food vendors on our website.)

WEBS Fleece Market

Since our parking lot can get a little crazy on Saturday, you’ll want to look out for helpful employees in bright yellow vests. They can help direct you to where you need to go. It’s a pretty crowded day, and it’s also a fun day loaded with fellow fiber fans, so chat with your neighbors in line, and remember to be kind and courteous to each other. We’re here to celebrate, not just another Tent Sale, but our 40th Anniversary!

Fun at WEBS Tent Sale

Our Tent Sale and Fleece Market (Saturday only) takes place rain or shine, so we’re keeping our fingers (and everything else, including our stitches!) crossed. We hope to see you here!
