Kathy and Cirilia Rose discuss The Fiber Factor, Skacel‘s Knitwear Designer Competition that has just entered the Final Challenge stage.

They discuss the goals of the contest, the different challenges and short turn-around times as well as some of the design work. Bravura designed by Tracey Purcher has been one of the most popular patterns from the contest!

National Spinning and Weaving Week

Kathy and Leslie Ann discuss the free demonstrations running from 11am – 1pm each day and  all the great mini workshops you can participate in over the course of the week:

Monday: Creating Texture on a Rigid Heddle Loom or Plying Mini Workshop, 2-4pm

Tuesday: Clasped Weft Mini Workshop 2-4pm

Wednesday is the Big Meet-up day from 10-3:30pm! Come on in and spin or weave and bring show and tell projects. We’ll have snacks and lots of fun!

Thursday: Fun with the Zoom Loom, 2-4pm

Friday: Fiber Preparation for Spinning Unique Yarns, 2-4pm

There will also be special deals and sales on select weaving/spinning tools and supplies – in store only. Remember the mini workshops are only $5.00 and you must pre-register.

The Cover Sweater from our Fall 2013 Catalog has been hugely popular and has cleared out ALL stock of the yarn available in the US! WOW! Noro has actually put this one yarn color at the top of their production list because of your demand! and new shipments of Obi color #05 should be in stock by mid-November. If you don’t mind the wait, feel free to place an order for this color that will remain on back order until it is restocked, or check out some of the other color selections in the Obi yarn.

Guest: Kathy and Audrey discuss her new eBook, Reversible Scarves: Curing the Wrong Side Blues. The book is full of user friendly patterns and wonderful “Make it Yours” sections that encourage knitters to explore simple ways to add great detail, color and textural interest to their scarves.

Kathy is particularly fond of the first chapter where Audrey demonstrates the same scarf pattern made in 6 different yarns in varying weights.

Printed copies of Audrey’s book can be purchased through Cooperative Press.

Audrey will be teaching at Interweave Knitting Lab and at Stitches West.

Thanks to all the customers that came out for our 9th Annual Knit & Crochet for the Cure last Sunday! Our customers spent time knitting and crocheting wonderful fingerless gloves to be donated to Cancer Connection.

All 3 of our buses to the New York State Sheep and Wool Fair in Rhinebeck next weekend are full! Please contact Customer Service if you would like to be put on the waiting list. Sometimes we have last minute cancellations.

Steve’s at Stitches
Steve and the WEBS Crew have been setting up for Stitches East that is happening this weekend, they’ve brought 16 pallets of yarn and fixtures – about 120 boxes of yarn! You can find them in booths 701-707, 800-808, 810 and 812. Come see us Saturday 10-6 and Sunday 10-4.

We’ve got tons on Madelinetosh,  Blue Moon in garment quantities, Berroco yarns and the new Karbonz Needles from Knitter’s Pride.

WEBS Holiday Gift Guide 2012 Catalogs will begin arriving in mailboxes in a few weeks.

They also talk about the incredible volunteers who have made and donated over 72,000 handmade hats and the ongoing fundraiser that will culminate at Stitches East in October.
