Wow, what a run of exciting new patterns. Between our Spring 2016 catalog that came out in March, new patterns for Haydenville and Longmeadow in April and all new designs for Goshen and Southwick in May we’ve introduced 13 brand new patterns to you in the last 3 months! On the off chance that you have missed any of these beauties we thought we’d pull together a little recap.

Our Spring Catalog featured the Tulip Pullover in Stockbridge, the Sieberi Shawl in Longmeadow, the Leaves and Lines Afghan and the Grayson Baby Set in Haydenville, The Tink Cardigan in Sunderland, the Marguerite Scarf in Leyden and the Anemone Mitts in Goshen. A bright cheerful collection of knits for Spring from our own Valley Yarns Design Manager, Kirsten Hipsky!

Then we partnered with some wonderful Indie Designers for a spate of all new pattern in April and May. Three gorgeous tops in Longmeadow, Ascending Leaves, the Easy Day Tee, and the Rose Sorbet Tank, the New Hope Pullover and All Dressed Up Stole in Goshen, the Vertical Pullover in Southwick and the Honza Baby Blanket in Haydenville. We asked these designers to let the yarn inspire them and boy did it!

And don’t worry! We have even more exciting new designs ready to reveal in June! Here’s a sneak-peek at some of the featured yarns and Indie Designs you’ll see, but we’ll also release our Summer Valley Yarns Catalog with over 20 additional new patterns. Get your needles ready, you’ve got a lot of knitting in your future!

The NEW Tulip Pullover from Valley Yarns is a classic pullover with some fun texture and color.

Worked seamlessly from the top down, with a crew-neck and set-in sleeves, the bold, rich colors of spring flowers and a band of subtle ribbing brings an unexpected twist to this simple sweater shape. Knit in Valley Yarns Stockbridge you’ll have almost 2 dozen colors to choose from, and with that variety why not think about changing up the colors? You could swap out just one color and use Soft Grape instead of the Deep Red.

Love a gradient? Try Natural, Camel and Chocolate, or Natural, Light Gray and Gray, or Deep Teal,  Blue Mist and Lake. Or try for a pop of color and knit the top and bottom in Light Gray with the center section in Kiwi or Gold. What colors will you cast on with?

This pattern integrates top-down, seamless design with set-in sleeves, ribbed saddle shoulders, and traditional Aran cables that grow closer together over the length of the body. Ribbed panels on the front and back help give it the perfect fit.

We’re excited for another beautiful design celebrating our 40th Anniversary. This time it’s the Gathering In Cowl by Debbi Stone in our Valley Yarns Stockbridge. Debbi has taken one of our longest running Valley Yarns and given us a fresh, but classic wardrobe piece that works with almost any style.

The Gathering In Cowl is a buttoned wrap in a stitch pattern reminiscent of a gathering basket, edged in sturdy ribbing.  Perfect for around your neck or pulled down around your shoulders when the days turn crisp. The alpaca and wool blend in Stockbridge is available in a kaleidoscope of 24 gorgeous colors and is so soft to the touch. 

This week’s featured pattern graces the cover of our 2014 Valley Catalog, the Falling Leaves Shawl. This has been one of our most popular patterns of the last few years. Originally knit in the soft Stone Blue color of Valley Yarns Stockbridge it has gotten a stylish update in the Fall Festival colorway of Valley Yarns Charlemont hand dyed by the Kangaroo Dyer.

The simple, biasing lace stitch works together with the vibrant hand-dyed colors to resemble a canopy of changing autumn leaves. Check out all the gorgeous completed Falling Leaves Shawls over on Ravelry.

Each weekday Steve chooses a yarn to feature as his Deal of the Day and knocks it down to a special low price. And each Friday he chooses a yarn to keep at that special price for the whole weekend.

This weekend Steve’s Deal of the Day is Valley Yarns Stockbridge, a 50/50 blend of Superfine Alpaca and Wool that results in a yarn with bounce and drape, and a soft, subtle halo. We thought we’d give you some pattern ideas to mull over for the weekend that feature this versatile yarn.

The Fall issue of Knitscene is out!

It is now in a larger format, which I think it is great. There are several interesting projects in the issue, but there’s one that I am particularly fond of:

This is the Matryoshka Stole. I love the design, I love the beads, I love the size. What I really love is that it is knit in our own Valley Yarns Stockbridge! But what makes this even better is that it was designed and knit by Cirilia who works for us in the store, has designed for us and has model in our catalog!

Even more exciting – Cirilia is profiled in Knitscene’s “One Cool Knitter” feature.
