Knit in two high contrast colors of our very own Valley Yarns Valley Superwash, this oversized, batwing-style sweater creates a bold, herringbone pattern for a pullover that would look equally at home with jeans and boots, or  a black mini and stilettos.

I can’t wait to see it in other color combinations! Which colors would you choose?

The Holiday 2016 issue of Vogue Knitting has some truly stunning pieces, but we are totally enamoured by the Mosaic Poncho Pullover designed by Norah Gaughan.

haydenville post

Raglan sleeves and a bicolor ribbed neck give this pullover the feel of a sweater, but the swingy open sides are all poncho. It’s knit in Valley Yarns Haydenville, a soft blend of superwash merino and microfiber. The vivid front and back mosaic panels are knit first; the sides are picked up along the panel and worked outward in two pieces, with the sleeves worked separately after the raglan shaping is complete.

Use Haydenville in Soft Grape and Grey, as shown in the sample, or choose your two favorite colors!

We’re always excited to see our Valley Yarns featured in the knitting and crochet community and this month the highlight is certainly the Early Fall 2016 issue of Vogue Knitting.

The Cable Detail Vest designed by Theresa Schabes in Valley Yarns Brimfield is a modern, open front vest with stunning details.

A combination of sleek shaping and yarn give this vest an ultra-modern look. At the back, fully fashioned shaping worked throughout the wide ribbing subtly shifts the twin braided cables outward, creating a flattering bias in the fabric. The fronts are picked up and knit crosswise with welt pockets, braided cable embellishments and garter-stitch edgings. A trim shawl collar is worked along the top edge.

We think this design looks lovely in the versatile neutral of the Silver colorway but would be equally stunning in the Peridot or Eggplant colorway for a splash of color in your wardrobe.

We’re so excited about Vogue Knitting Spring/Summer 2016. Not only is it packed with over 20 stunning knit patterns from some of our favorite designers, but our own Valley Yarns Charlemont made the cover in a design from Unjung Yun, the Leaf Motif Wrap!

The open spaces that dot this sculptural wrap recall the look of windblown leaves. Knit in Charlemont, a pearlescent wool/ silk blend from Valley Yarns, garter-stitch leaf motifs are worked continuously with cast-on stitches to form a tiered panel. Each subsequent panel reverses the direction of the work, producing the subtly undulating texture. Dropped stitches worked throughout delineate the lacy look. They’ve even put together a quick tutorial on their Youtube channel to guide you through this fantastic technique!
