The Buzz at WEBS

The WEBS staff are buzzing about merino wool, baby knits and more this week.

Buzz at WEBS April 15, 2011

1. Lantern Moon Clam Shell Cases – As a self proclaimed “pouch queen” I would be lost if it weren’t for all the little pouches organizing my stuff in the giant bags I carry. This set is gorgeous! > Malea R.

2. Brooklyn Tweed Rock Island Lace Triangle – I’m in love with Jared Flood’s Rock Island shawl pattern and the Lorna’s Laces Helen’s Lace we just got in in Grand Street Ink. It’s purple, black, and brown all at the same time! I’m going to knit this one soon! (photo credit – Jared Flood/Brooklyn Tweed) > Mary K.-H.

3. Malabrigo Rios – I made a running hat with this yarn in one day. It is super soft and comfortable AND machine wash/dry. > Debby C.

4. The Weaver’s Companion – This is a great reference for all my weaving questions. I love that it has a reed substitution chart, which I consult frequently. It also has a page with the common sizes of things like dishtowels, placemants and shawls that I use when designing projects. > Leslie Ann B.

5. Bryspun Stainless Steel Sock Blockers – I just finished some fairisle socks, and these sock blockers really came in handy to stretch out some of those stranded stitches. > Kirsten H.

6. 60 Quick Baby Knits – I know of SO many babies being born this year. There are lots of cute sweater, accessory, and blanket projects from this book, something for every baby. And every pattern in this book is made in Cascade 220 Superwash, on sale through May for $6.89/ball. > Dena C.

7. Valley Yarns Amherst – The first item I made for the store was knit in Amherst and I’ve loved it ever since. Lusciously soft with a beautiful hand and an unbeatable price. > Liz A.
