The Buzz at WEBS – June 6, 2011

This week the staff at WEBS is buzzing about…

1. Susan Bates Knit Chek – In terms of knitting and crocheting the Susan Bates Knit Chek is a lifesaver. The corner viewing window makes it easy to check your stitch and row gauge, and I find it’s more accurate than just using a ruler or tape measure. Plus, the needle gauge lists US, millimeter, and crochet hook sizes for added convenience. It also has US and metric rulers along its sides. This is a super handy tool. I carry one with me everywhere. > Liz A.

2. Go Crochet! by Ellen Gormley – This book caught my eye and has been spending the week on my desk as I keep flipping through it. This is not only a great collection of crochet motifs organized by shape, it includes written instructions and charts for each. With the addition of the Mix and Match suggestions for each motif, I think I’m in love. > Dena C.

3. Valley Yarns Longmeadow – We shot a video last week about Longmeadow and it reminded me just how much I adore this yarn. I have these three colors at home waiting to be turned into something. I think it’s time I figure out what that something is! > Kathy E

4. I recently completed the Aestlight Shawl using Valley Yarns 2/10 Merino Tencel. It is a fun pattern – easy enough to move along at a good pace, and challenging enough to be interesting. The process of connecting the edging is so clever! The yarn is light, airy and soft. And since it is on a cone, there are minimal ends to weave in. > Tina M.

5. Berroco Boboli – Aside from being a tasty at home do it yourself pizza crust, Boboli  is the name of one of our fabulous new fall yarns put out by Berroco. It is warm and soft single ply blend of Wool, Acrylic and Viscose. The Viscose gives this yarn a glorious sheen and the colors will remind you of a Monet painting. > Malea R.

6. Valley Yarns Boothbay Lace Pullover – It uses cool, silky Southwick, a fun and challenging lace stitch, a one-piece sideways construction, and it’s super flattering, too. It’s one of my favorite new Valley patterns, especially for the summer. > Kirsten H.
