The Last of the Holiday Magic
The last couple of weeks have been so crazy! I’ve got a few random holiday bits to share with you as we wind down 2008.
First up, I present to you Missy with Frankie the Flamingo:
Frankie has been a project that Missy has been working on for months as a surprise for her partner. Nearly everday at lunch she has knit a few rows on Frankie. This was the only time she really got to work on him in order to keep the surprise a secret.
Above is Frankie before he was felted. Here he is completed:
Isn’t he just the best? Missy tells us he was a huge hit and is loved. What more could a stuffed felted flamingo and his knitter ask for? Great job Missy!
Next up, we have a knitting snowman:
He was a gift to our Assitant Store Manager Tina from her nephew. Next to cashmere (and Frankie), I’d have to say this is the top knitting gift of the year. As cute as the picture above is, you cannot fully appreciate the Knitting Snowman without video accompaniment, so without further adieu:
Finally, here is the cuteness that was our Christmas:
I’m told I have nothing to worry about and that they’ll take care of Steve & I in our old age. They’re going to be rockstars you know 🙂

Tragically, the video of the snowman is not available. Whether this is a temporary or a permanent problem is irrelevant. I feel safer just knowing I did not see it. Considering my opinion of the people of the snow, the idea of one knitting with his intestines – and one assumes singing as well – is…well…it takes me to a place beyond scary.
I LOVE Frankie!! Missy rocks!! That is too cool!
And of course they will be rock stars. I would not be surprised if they had an agent, a limo and a contract by the end of 2009.
p.s.
why did you call frankie a pelican?
p.p.s.
how much yarn was in the Prius?

Off to edit the “pelican” to read, as it should “flamingo”.
Video is working here.
Prius yarn amt to be posted shortly.

Congrats on getting the video in and on the new blog site! The more I read blogs of fellow knitters, (and Facebook, and Plurk) the more I realize what a small world and how much we have in common. I knit the flamigo about 2 years ago for friends who have a flamingo “thing” going (http://www.flickr.com/photos/balletmommy/662282821/in/set-72157600060530607/) and BalletDaughter got a guitar for Christmas this year too! Enjoy!

Hi Michelle
The flamingo is a Fiber Trends pattern. Here’s the link:

The Knitting Snowman is another challenge. I believe he was bought at a Costco in Jersey. I have the distributor info on my desk at work. I’ll keep you posted if I can track a retail source down or if I can buy them wholesale.

I absolutely agree – the crossover amongst all of us is pretty amazing!
How’s balletdaughter liking her guitar? Jackson hugged the box on Christmas morning 🙂

Forgot to add: Love the new WEBS layout and I am looking forward to the final version as well! It seems like it will be even easier to search for items and look at colors. Love the blue, also.

Will J & J be rockstars after they retire from the NHL and MLB or during the off-season?

I absolutely loved the knitting snowman. I’d love to get one, even though I’ve refrained myself lately from buying unnecessary items. If you find a source, please let me know. I enjoy reading your blog and check it often. Have a Happy New Year!

I just wanted to add that the flamingo began as Missy’s first official knitting project – right after mastering how to knit and purl! She is amazing!
And, thanks for featuring my snowman. My SIL and nephew will be so excited. 🙂
